About the URL Encode / Decode
This URL encoder and decoder converts text to and from percent-encoding (also called URL encoding). Percent-encoding replaces characters that are unsafe or reserved in URLs — like spaces, ampersands, and question marks — with a "%" followed by their hexadecimal byte value, so data can travel safely inside a URL.
Choose "Component" mode to encode a single query value or path segment (it escapes reserved characters like & and =), or "Full URL" mode to encode an entire URL while leaving its structure intact.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Component and Full URL encoding?
Component encoding (encodeURIComponent) escapes reserved characters such as &, =, ?, and /, making it right for a single query value or path piece. Full URL encoding (encodeURI) leaves those structural characters alone so a complete URL stays functional.
Why do spaces become %20 or +?
In percent-encoding a space becomes %20. In the older application/x-www-form-urlencoded format used by HTML form submissions, spaces become "+". This tool uses standard percent-encoding (%20).
Why did decoding fail?
Decoding fails when the input contains a malformed percent-sequence, such as a "%" not followed by two valid hexadecimal digits. Check for stray % characters in the input.
